On Tuesday, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady announced on social media that he would be leaving the team, saying: "it is time for me to open a new stage for my life and career."
While Brady said that he did not know what his "football future" held, it was reported later that day that Brady was in negotiations to sign on to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The deal would reportedly be worth at least $30 million per season.
During his 20-year career, Brady led the Patriots to win six Super Bowl championships and was honored as league MVP three times. Brady became a hero for Patriots fans, to whom he addressed the second half of his social media announcement.
