Last Friday, the U.S. Department of Labor released its January jobs report.
U.S. employers added 225,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate remained near a half-century low. The labor force participation rate increased by 0.2%.
Wage growth picked up slightly, with average hourly earnings 3.1% higher than they were 12 months ago.
In his State of the Union address last week, President Trump touted the strong economy. "In just three short years, we have shattered the mentality of American decline, and we have rejected the downsizing of America's destiny," Trump said. "We are moving forward at a pace that was unimaginable a short time ago, and we are never going back!"
