Scott Pruitt, the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is in hot water for a number of controversial decisions.
He paid $50 / night to rent a room on Capital Hill from the wife of an energy lobbyist, he gave large raises to his top aides without going through traditional approval channels, spent over $100K on luxury air travel, and installed a secure phone booth in his office. In his role, Pruitt has held extensive meetings with industry representatives while spending less time with environmental activists.
Many are calling for Pruitt's ouster. However, President Trump and many Republicans have come to Pruitt's defense and argue that Pruitt has been highly effective in his role.
Food For Thought
Should Scott Pruitt's actions be classified as scandals? Should he remain in his role as Administrator of the EPA?
