  • Last Wednesday, Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his upcoming retirement.
  • Now, President Trump is evaluating potential nominees for the Supreme Court vacancy. 
  • Two of the leading contenders are Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh and Judge Amy Coney Barrett. 
  • Kavanaugh, a Yale graduate, currently serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. He served as a staff secretary for former President George W. Bush and clerked for Justice Anthony Kennedy. 
  • Barrett, a former law professor at Notre Dame, is a recent appointee to the Chicago-based U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. She was a former law clerk for Justice Antonin Scalia.
  • President Trump has reportedly met with six contenders: Kavenaugh, Barrett, Raymond Kethledge, Amul Thapar, Joan Larsen, and Thomas Hardiman.
