On Wednesday, Paul Ryan, the current Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, announced he would not seek re-election in November, and that he would instead retire from his career in politics.
Paul Ryan has been the U.S. representative for Wisconsin’s 1st district since 1999. He ran as Mitt Romney’s Vice Presidential candidate against Barack Obama and Joe Biden in 2012, and succeeded John Boehner as the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives in October 2015.
