On Sunday, popular comedian and television host Ellen DeGeneres was spotted attending a Dallas Cowboys game with former president George W. Bush. This sparked a small outcry on Twitter.
On her show, Ellen addressed the issue, framing it in terms of America's epidemic of left/right interpersonal divisions. In her defense, she shared a tweet which read "Ellen and George Bush together makes me have faith in America again."
Ellen continued, saying: "I'm friends with George Bush. In fact, I'm friends with a lot of people who don't share the same beliefs that I have... When I say, 'be kind to one another,' I don't only mean the people that think the same way that you do. I mean be kind to everyone."
